Topic:
THE ROLE OF MEDIA IN OUR LIVES
Speaker: Pst. Kimani
·
He
is married to Susan and they have 3 daughters.
·
He
came by with Sarah Njeri Kabutha.
·
He
focuses a lot on the internet and social media.
·
Media
is for communication.
·
There
was once a world without technology and the main form of communication was word
of mouth or talking drums: killing runners and messenger was like killing the
king himself. There was a smaller population. The telephone was born in 1890,
the radio was invented a year later. 1922 was when modern technology picked up.
·
He
showed us video clips showing the history of communication.
·
Media
has evolved. Have you? Where are we today and where might we be going as far as
media and communication is concerned?
·
Technology
has changed a whole lot of things.
·
By
the end of 2016, there’ll be 7.3 billion people on earth and by 2030, we’ll be
10 billion. There is an upcoming trend that changing jobs will be a common
thing in the near future. Most to on-demand jobs are technology oriented. We
are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist. 4 different generations
are now working together.
·
1
out of 5 couples in the US in 2015 met on online. 1 in 5 divorces are blamed on
Facebook. Social and mobile are coming together.
·
e-Reputation?
What then does it mean to live for Christ in this internet ageMore than 4,000
books are published every year while 8 zetabytes of unique data was created in
2015.
·
Technology
is going to have a great impact on schooling and impartation of knowledge.
Almost everything is soon going to be connected to the internet.
·
Technology
can’t be done away with; the question is: how well can we use it?
·
Be
a responsible cyber citizen by;
o
Minding
your e-reputation > don’t just take photos and upload them online. Be modest
with the pictures you text online. Online has no privacy at all today. Our
social media can now determine our employment status. Avoid visiting porn sites.
o
The
Bible will not help you if you know it, you have to live it. It is not enough
to want to be a good Christian, become one! Be intentional with what you do
with technology.
o
Using
www.familysafety.com > sends an
email and alerts you of any breach of internet etiquette.
o
Read
and acquire new information.
o
Logging
out or limiting the amount of time you are logged in. Someone can steal you
cyber identity and use it for bad intentions.
o
Video
games: playing video games influences our thought lines and how we relate with
people.
Prayer: that we
will be intentional in how we use technology and how we relate in the cyber
space.

1
Corinthians 6:19 (ESV) “Or do you not know that your body is a temple
of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your
own."
·
We saved people still have stuff we are struggling with. We need
to;
(a)
Accept and realize the need for change as an individual.
(b) Run away
from the things that are attacking us from every side.
Galatians 5:1 (ESV) “For
freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again
to a yoke of slavery.”
·
Go back home with this message: that it is time to
rise up wherever we are and shout out that it is Jesus Christ who has the power
to deliver all people. The answer lies in Jesus Christ.
·
There
is power in the Name of Jesus to break every chain.

Artists
Workshop
Maina of BMF
·
There
were approximately 40 delegates here.
·
Yesterday
they talked about the character of an artist. It's character that sustains the
artist's gift.
·
People
around you will either help you stand or leave you to fall. This support system
is very important to the artist.
Song
Composition
What
inspires composition?
1.
Personal
and real life experiences.
2.
In
prayer and during worship.
3.
God's
Word.
4.
Playing
around with chords.
5.
Songs
birth songs.
·
Vulnerability
in song-writing brings credibility.
·
David,
the greatest composer of all times, was a man of many gifts and was a man after
God's own heart.
·
Taking
Psalm 51 as a composition, it is written from a personal experience.
What to
consider;
1.
Get
the theme or message for the song: what are you trying to sing about, are we
talking to people or to God, or are we passing a message? Or are we just
encouraging ourselves? And stick to the theme.
2.
We
inspire the world by being godlier, not worldlier.
3.
Avoid
composing in a certain style just because everyone is doing it.
4.
Sing
the Word of God. The whole Word of God is a lyrical manuscript.
5.
God-inspired
songs are;
a.
God
centered, for God and for His glory.
b.
A
testimony of what God is doing in us or around us.
c.
Centred
on God's Word.
6.
Take
time, be patient.
University, College and High School students’
workshop with Rev. Kihu
·
A
total of 200 students handling the topic of self-finding.
·
He
also urged them to start their career building process early enough because
this would be the best place to be and or to exercise.
C.U. officials workshop
·
Were
seated at the Registration Hall with 35 members in attendance.
·
They
were told to get to know their fellow students: their attitudes and needs and
be sensitive to current affairs trending among schools. This will help them to
handle questions in any area i.e. about marriage. Girl/boyfriend issues are
kind of out of place in a High School setup. It’s wise to handle these
questions in a modest way.
Graduants
These are the fresh graduates from local universities. Only 12 disciples followed his group today. There was more of interviews, internships, voluntary etc.

teens, Sylvia from Kiambu said that this time around the camp is great with all
needs met at individual level.

Sermon
Topic: GOD’S PROMISES
Genesis
15
·
There
is hope for those who put their trust in the promises of God.
·
So
much has been said since the day we came in, and after leaving, the enemy may
lie to you that you haven’t been redeemed after this time in God’s presence,
and things may even become worse; but the assurance still is that God’s promise
still stands.
·
God
is not a son of man that He may change whatever He said concerning us. May we
not lose faith that God will surely come through for us. Better a fool with
faith than anything else.
Daniel
9:1 ff
·
Daniel
discovered that their days of slavery had ended; likewise, we have no reason to
remain in slavery because Christ ended our days of slavery.
·
We
have an eternal covenant in God that gives us an inheritance that is sure and
true. Since I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I should not give to the devil
what is mine.
·
Prayer
and benediction.
