Here Are 7 Free MP3 Downloads that Help Me Say "Goodbye Third Day, I'll Miss You"

Third Day (a Christian rock band)
Okay guys, Third Day, one of our favorite Christian rock bands formed in the 1990s and consisting of Mac Powell as lead singer/vocalist (come on, we all love Powell's gritty voice, yes?), guitarist Mark Lee, David Carr and Billy Wilkins (former member) is calling it quits this June.

😥😥

No, the guys are still good friends by the way, so don't start a stale rumor mill just yet.

The lead singer, Mac Powell, said this in an interview last week: "It’s great that we get a chance to close the chapter in our own timing and in our own way. Nobody is mad at each other,” he said. “We’re still friends and still buds. We’re riding off into the sunset in a good way.”  Each band member will now pursue individual creative interests.

As four-time GRAMMY® Award-winners and a multi-platinum selling band, Third Day will hit the road one last time from the end May 2018 to headline their FAREWELL TOUR, which concludes an extraordinary touring career that spans 25 years and boasts legions of loyal fans from around the world. The tour will run from May 31 to June 27.

In addition to performing their hits during the tour, Mark Lee will also be sharing new music and stories from his critically acclaimed autobiography, Hurt Road, which released last year. Worship leader Matt Maher will be a special guest on the tour, and other guests will be featured in different markets.

Some good news though...
Mac Powell will continue making music with his band Mac Powell and the Family Reunion.

FYI, Powell has been pursuing a side career in country music in recent years with his band releasing two independent albums and touring solo as well as doing shows with country traditionalist Craig Morgan.
He may release an album and a Christmas album later on in the year. Let's wait and see.

2. Casting Crowns - It's Finally Christmas EP (2017)

Summary info on the album:
Grammy-award winning and Multi-platinum selling Christian band Casting Crowns have just unleashed their 2017 Christmas EP with the typical Casting Crowns sound we all love.
It’s Finally Christmas is all about the little details that make Christmas. From twinkling lights, to ‘the smell of cookies baking’, to singing Nat King Cole classics - family traditions are at the heart of the song. Christmas is a time for coming together, and looking forward to warmth of family and friends, wherever you are. Even die-hard Christmas fans may find earnest lines like ‘If you’ve got love, you’ve got it all’ a little cloying, but the song rounds off with a return to the heart of it all - remembering the Christmas story together. - Eden Magazine

3. Hillsong UNITED - Wonder (2017)

Summary info on the album:
Hillsong UNITED (the band) had several recording sessions for Wonder at The Record Plant in Los Angeles. Lead vocalist Joel Houston felt that the album's title and themes reflected returning wonder to both faith and worship, saying, "This is the challenge, and this is what worship - if worship can be summed up as an expression of art and music and story - is ultimately designed to do. To elevate the conversation, re-awaken the soul to something other, and lift our eyes to the wonder of a superlative truth." "Splinters and Stones" was described as having "striking vocal modification and pulsing bass samplings" while containing personal lyrics. - Wikipedia
Note: "So Will I (100 Billion X)" is my favorite song on the album. (That's why I have attached an acoustic bonus of the track done live at the Worship Together studios, which is not on the original album.)

4. Tasha Cobbs-Leonard - Heart. Passion. Pursuit. (2017)

Summary info on the album:
When the Grammy-award winning Gospel artist Tasha Cobbs-Leonard announced that she was going to feature Nicki Minaj (yeaaaah, some of y'all yelled, "of all people!") on her album, her Instagram went ablaze...
"How could she?" "Why, Tasha, why?" "I can't believe this!"... Went the comments.
But during her interview with Essence, Tasha came out to defend the reason why she involved Nicki on her album by saying,
"I've seen the Nicki that is off the stage and that Nicki has a great relationship with God. My assignment with this song was for a particular audience. Some [of the listeners] have never experienced God ever and she exposed that audience in her way, to the God that she loves."
She also added by saying that this partnership with Nicki Minaj served as a healing process for those she’s come into contact with:
The testimonies that have come because of this – I would absolutely do it again. I’ve had thousands of people say to me, ‘This is the first time I’ve ever bought a gospel album. This is the first time I’ve ever felt God. I didn’t believe in God until I heard this song.'”

Well, fellas, download the album, move over to track number 8 and be the judge...

2. HILLSONG WORSHIP - let there be light (2016)
I have wanted to review this album since last year but time constraints have not allowed me.. Anyway here is a summary about the album, plus the download link.

Hillsong Worship - let there be light (2016) official cover art.
Summary info on the album:
Taking its cue from Genesis 1:3 is Hillsong Worship's titular "Let There Be Light" (stylized as "let there be light".)  And in at least three ways, this album is a return to the group's grassroots genesis. First, this 25th live album sees the return of Brooke (Fraser) Ligertwood as the worship leader on two cuts.  Though Ligertwood has never ceased writing for the Australian worship team, she has not been on the microphone since 2010's "A Beautiful Exchange."  Second, the same can be said of Marty Sampson.  In the earlier days, Sampson used to be one of the most prominent male voices of the team.  After a period of conspicuous absence, Sampson is back both as a songwriter of 2 songs and he sings lead on his self-penned "Elohim."  Third, while their previous record "OPEN HEAVEN / River Wild" was a tad more experimental and ethereal, this new record gets back to their mother's milk of solidly congregational-focused songs. (Hallels)

Album: let there be light (Deluxe Edition).
Number of tracks: 17
Note: I have excluded a short sermon by Pastor Brian Houston (Behold, New Roads) in the download I'm sharing.
Album length: 92 minutes, 58 seconds (without the short sermon)
Date of release: October 14, 2016
Record label: Hillsong Music, Sparrow Records and Capitol Christian Music Group.
Music genre: Contemporary Christian/Gospel, alternative, rock, CEDM.

LYRICS:

I’m swimming against the current
Swimming against the current
I think I need you... I need you

I'm trying so hard to finish
Trying so hard to finish
Strong bad I need you... I need you

I’m trying to make sense of it
Trying to make sense of it all
But I can tell that’s the truth... Ow!

‘Cos you all I’ve ever needed
You all I’ve ever needed
But I don’t know the truth... Ooohwu!

BRIDGE:
You are my star...
You show me the way
The way back to you
You are my sun
You brighten my grey
And make my sky blue

CHORUS:
You are the light in my dark
Without you my world would be so empty, empty
You filled the space in my heart
Please don't leave me feeling so empty, empty... Yeah!

I’m swimming against the current
Swimming against the current
I think I need you... I need you

I'm trying so hard to finish
Trying so hard to finish
Strong bad I need you... I need you

Review and Download: Jesus Culture “Let It Echo” (2016 Album)

Genre: Contemporary Worship Music, CEDM.
Record label: Sparrow/Jesus Culture Music

Jesus Culture's 2016 album "Let It Echo" cover art
Introduction
Jesus Culture is a community of worship leaders and musicians whose heart is to see a generation impacted by encounters with the presence of God. Originating out of the Jesus Culture movement which began in 1999, they recorded their first album in 2005 at their youth and young adult conference in Redding, CA. Since then Jesus Culture has released 9 annual live albums and over 20 solo artist albums. Jesus Culture leads worship both at their local church in Sacramento, California and abroad through conference events and worldwide tours.
Jesus Culture has sold more than one million albums worldwide since their debut project in 2005 and have garnered more than 3.8 million followers on social media and over 34.5 million views on YouTube. Jesus Culture is focused on equipping a generation to transform society by bringing people into an encounter with God’s love through worship and discipleship. The songs they release capture the heart of the movement. (TheChristianBeat)

In summary (all you may need to know about this album):
  1. Let It Echo is the 9th live album by Jesus Culture and was released in January this year.
  2. It is the first album recorded live at Jesus Culture’s church in Sacramento, California, USA.
  3. It debuted on four Billboard charts including the Top Albums (Top 20), Digital Albums (Top 12), Christian Albums (No. 2) and the Top 200 charts (Top 40).
  4. The group will be heading out on the "Let It Echo" tour beginning on June 22.
  5. This week, the group announced the release of “Let It Echo Unplugged”, which will release on June 17 (right before their tour) featuring new, acoustic recordings from the January project.
Track listing
The album features 12 tracks and it is 73 minutes 1 second long. Here is the song listing in the album with the lead singer:
  1. Never Gonna Stop Singing (Kim Walker-Smith)
  2. Fierce (Chris Quilala)
  3. Alive In You (Kim Walker-Smith)
  4. In the River (Kim Walker-Smith)
  5. Let It Echo (Heaven Fall) (Chris Quilala)
  6. God With Us (Bryan Torwalt)
  7. Miracles (Chris Quilala)
  8. Set Me Ablaze (Katie Torwalt)
  9. Everything and Nothing Else (Chris McClarney)
  10. In Your Presence (Kim Walker-Smith)
  11. I Stand in Awe (Chris Quilala)
  12. Power in the Cross (Derek Johnson)
Album art, album title, song titles and lyrical content
I love something about the album cover art: simple, intuitive and “echoing” the message from the lowlands, to the city and into the valleys and mountaintops. The effect of the echo seems to cover more ground as the sound moves further.

Considering that this project includes other members of the Jesus Culture team who have not been on board for several previous projects since 2012’s Emerging Voices, I think much thought was put in getting the album and song titles. They are precise and not misleading, and this makes it excellent.

Also, it is good to note that there is something prophetic about this newly crafted set of songs in Let It Echo. They are not your average forgettable ditties that come and go.  Rather, they are the products of hearts that have lean in to what the Holy Spirit has to say to the church.  They articulate truths God has been wanting to speak to churches in ways that can stir the currents of revival.  "Let It Echo" was not an easy album to make for this worshipping community.  Rather, the album was birthed out of an arduous labor of pain, struggles, and uncertainties.

Take for instance the bittersweet moment that is felt when at the end of the song 'God With Us' Bryan Torwalt explains how the song came about: Bryan and his wife had lost their baby. This song story is also shared by Chris Quilala and his wife who lost their baby boy in 2014 and it inspired the writing of the song 'Miracles' as sung by Chris Quilala. Both Bryan and Chris so poignantly point out that these songs are victories for them. They speak about believing that God is still the God of miracles. They reaffirm our belief that God is still on the throne and is still able to do all things, regardless of what our situations look like.

Music style and acceptability
Let It Echo is definitely the most polished set of live albums released by Jesus Culture yet. The twelve new songs sound straight of a studio with a tight modern/rock sound, led by both Kim Walker-Smith and McClarney, along with familiar voices like Chris Quilala and Bryan & Katie Torwalt.
It represents a solid contemporary worship sound with songs that resound the urge of “echoing” the goodness and faithfulness of God in all situations.

It features both a contemporary worship sound together with an EDM undercurrent of elongated electronic beats, buoyant rhythms, and a brisk tempos.

As mentioned in the summary above, “Let It Echo” has received positive response from across the worship music lovers, performed well on top music charts and reviews upon reviews reiterate that it is one of the best albums done by Jesus Culture from since Come Away (2010).

Audibility, fluidity, quality and flow of music
The album flows well from song to song and the production is well managed. This is because (I think) several artists are featured on the album and that unlike their other worship recordings, these songs were recorded individually, during their various worship services, on different Sundays at their 1year old Jesus Culture Church in Sacramento, California.

The process really helped to remove the layers of expectation that a congregation might put on, when attending a worship concert, and instead brings us a recording that shows a more mature Jesus Culture ministering in a more intimate setting. The Jesus Culture team describes this offering to be one that captures the heart of a community seeking after Jesus with a desire to know Him more and to see this passion spread from cities to nations.

Kim Walker-Smith, as expected, gets to be the featured lead vocalist on the lion's share of the record.  She leads 4 out of the 12 cuts.  And unlike other worship teams that often delegate the softer ballads to their female leads, Walker-Smith takes on 3 power-chargers.

Per-song Reviews
We welcome back Kim Walker-Smith’s powerful and emotive vocal with a happy dance as she opens up the album with the catchy ‘Never Gonna Stop Singing’. The song confirms that the collective has grown and no longer only caters for the younger listener. The track reminded me how much I appreciate Walker-Smith’s husky voice and effortless ability to sweep you up and take you along as she praises the King.

Chris Quilala is welcomed back with the powerful ‘Fierce’ – a mid-tempo, giant of a song that declares “Your love is fierce!” My favorite moment on the track is its bridge that takes the song down to a chant saying: “You chase me down/You seek me out/How could I be lost if you have called me found.” This is one of the many tracks on the album that are congregation friendly and will probably make its way onto many set lists. The same can be said for the catchy ‘Im alive’, which has an appealing chorus that will have you repeating it over and over.

Popular praise track, ‘In the River’, has fast become a favorite worldwide, with many churches already adding it to their Sunday set lists. The energetic, drum driven, freedom song has an easy to learn melody that simply declares “We come alive in the river!”
Other notable cuts include ‘Power In The Cross’ led by Derek Johnson (a single from his album of last year), ‘God With Us’ by Bryan Torwalt – a worship ballad complemented by Torwalt’s rich vocals; and title track ‘Let It Echo,’ which is led by Quilala. All the three songs have the type of likable melodies and simple but moving lyrics that Jesus Culture has become known for.

The highlight on this album is a stunner of a song by vocal powerhouse, Katie Torwalt, called ‘Set Me Ablaze’. Torwalt croons and bellows with passion as she sings about having a desire for more of God. “Set me ablaze/with a single obsession!” This is one to listen to!

All in all, this shows that this is probably is one of the Jesus Culture albums yet!

Conclusion
“Let It Echo” may just be my favorite worship album of the year if Casting Crowns, Hillsong and the rest who have announced to be releasing new music soon won’t hit me with more greater stuff by the end of the year.

Keep singing.

Summary
In their post today, Hillsong Worship wrote and said, "Grace to Grace is our 2016 Easter single. It's a song penned by Joel Houston and Chris Davenport featuring Marty Sampson, Taya Smith, Jad Gillies and Matt Crocker. We are so excited for you to hear it and trust that it will help you again sense the wonder, beauty, pain and triumph of the cross of Jesus Christ... so central and grounding to our faith not only at Easter but daily as we continue to work out what it means to live out the resurrection. We've also made chord charts & translations available for you and your worship teams here"Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted" (Hebrews 12:2-3, ESV)

Here are the lyrics to Hillsong Worship's 'Grace to Grace':

Now at His feet we bow;

The radiance of perfect love
Now shines for all to see

Chris Tomlin's Adore: Christmas Songs of Worship is the go to album as far as congregational worship over the festive season is concerned.

Though the market is saturated with seasonal outputs every year and though it's almost mandatory for every artist to release a Christmas album somewhere along his/her career, few are the Christmas songs made for congregational worship.

Tomlin whose pen has supplied the vocabulary and scores of countless worship services with staples such as "Love Ran Red," "Our God, "How Great is Our God," is back with his festive debut Adore: Christmas Songs of Worship. The titular is most revealing, this is an 11-track record made for the service of the church. This is arguably the CD's chief strength.

The strength of this album is that many of these songs are going to work their way into the soundtrack of many worship services in the years to come. Already making its way into this reviewer's church Christmas repertoire is the worship ballad "A King Like This." Capturing melodiously both the majesty of the Christ-child as well as the palatability of his incarnation, "A King Like This" is both intimate as well as Christ-exalting. "Adore" has all the melodic arrays of a Tomlin ballad (a la "Love Ran Red" and "Jesus Messiah"). And the choir which gives the chorus a more substantial backing creates an inviting atmosphere that calls forth the worship in us.
Worship leaders who get tired of just churning "O Little Town of Bethlehem" year after year may check out Tomlin's newly written "Bethlehem." Just like the hymn, "Bethlehem" is a show and tell worship number where Tomlin gets us up, close, and personal with the Christ-child in the stable in Bethlehem. "He Shall Reign Forevermore" is lifted as the album's introductory single. One can grasp the reason behind the choice with one listen. It's an anthemic worship piece that traverses through from the softer notes to those high and glorious crescendos. But at the end of the day, "He Shall Reign Forevermore" borders on the safe and clich side.

Besides the brand new songs, Tomlin also does what is quite a prevalent move these days, that is to weave a new song into an old hymn. In this regard, Tomlin does an A+ job with "Midnight Clear (Love Song)." Here "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" becomes not just a song about
Christ but it becomes a song of love to Jesus. Kristyn Getty, on the other hand, doesn't add much to "Silent Night" and Lauren Daigle would be better off doing one of Tomlin's original rather than a rehash of "Noel." Precisely because this CD is made for congregational singing, Tomlin is not as creative as say MercyMe (on their newest Christmas album) with his re-imaginations of the old carols.

Bearing all the marks of Tomlin's worship albums, "Adore" carries on Tomlin's rich legacy of making music for the church. If you are looking for songs made to be sung as worship pieces to God, this is a treasure trove.

Danny Gokey, well known for his mega hit singles “Hope In Front of Me” and “More Than You Think I Am”, brings his own style and flair to a new holiday album, Christmas Is Here.

In addition to featuring a few brand new songs, the record is full of holiday classics like “White Christmas,” “Mary Did You Know?,” and “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” Each song is unique from past versions because his unparalleled voice and musical style bring such a soulful and powerful flavor to each track. Speaking about his new release, Gokey says, “My fans have been asking for a Christmas album for years, telling me my voice would be perfect for these songs. Everyone had their favorite songs that they wanted me to include, so we tried to get in as many as possible. I’m really proud of the way it turned out."

“Give Me Jesus” truly reflects the meaning of the Christmas season. Danny turns this familiar hymn into a Christmas song that you won’t soon forget. This song is soft and quiet but carries a strong message that is meaningful for the Christmas season. Gokey yet again brings so much heartfelt emotion into the lyrics he sings in a way that only he can.

“What Christmas Means to Me” has everything you expect a truly great Christmas song to have. It’s even complete with a choir and a trumpet section. Danny fills this song with Christmas spirit, love, and joy. When you listen to this song, if close your eyes, you will be instantly able to vividly picture Christmas trees, lights, family, and friends!

“Lift Up Your Eyes” is fast and upbeat. This song talks about lifting up your eyes to the Savior, Jesus Christ, during the Christmas season. “Lift Up Your Eyes” is unique from most traditional holiday songs in that it focuses on the true meaning of Christmas, Jesus' birth! This song can really be played any time of the year, because its message stays the same, powerful and encouraging.

Danny Gokey’s Christmas Is Here is definitely the perfect album to get you in the holiday spirit. Whether it's a beautifully written original song or a fresh take on a holiday classic, Danny brings a unique sound to Christmas music with this record.
