Venue: K.A.G. EAST UNIVERSITY
Date: From 19th to 23rd April 2016
Theme: Freed to Flee and Follow (2 Timothy 2:22)
6:00 am (Morning Devotion)
·         People really in prayer as they shout out to the Lord in different languages, Morning devotion started with great power.
·         Approximately 200 members present others joining slowly later.
·         Praise team leads in thanksgiving song 'Nasema Asante'.
·         Concerted prayer made later for everyone and praying for the praise team and the ministers of the day.
·         Pastor Bonface Oyaro was the preacher of the hour with the topic 'Making the Right Decisions'
a)    Flee from sin: Gave the story of Lot and his Family. For them to be saved from the Wrath of God, they had to flee from Sodom and Gomorrah to be saved.
b)    Keep off the Past: Lot’s daughters kept clinging to the past and life of Sodom. This may have made them to make drunk their Father and bore with him children.
c)    Today we can choose to flee from the youthful lusts of the youth and bury them from our lives.

8.30 am

9.12 am
·         Director invites Maina from BMF.

Topic: WHAT SONG WILL COME OUT OF YOU?
·         Performs “How We Love Your Name” and “I Love You Forever” (Tye Tribbett) before ministering.
·         K.A.G. New Mathare has been his church until last year.
·         He is now working with Discovery Africa, a one year program to impact young people to change their communities.
·         He’ll be speaking about music altogether.
·         He’s been doing music for 16 years now. He has learnt valuable lessons along the way and he’ll be sharing them with us.
·         Music can be used positively or negatively.
·         The congregation was asked to share their favorite songs for two minutes. Some songs are really dirty: hip hop or raga. The question that comes up is: what was on the composer’s mind when they were doing the song?
·         Music or every song we write comes out of the abundance in our hearts.
Acts 16:25-28 (ESV) About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened. When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried with a loud voice, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.”
·         Background info: Paul and Silas were doing amazing things for God in the now modern day Turkey. They met a certain girl with a spirit of divination and they rebuked it out and delivered her. But those wo were making money out of her divination falsely accused them and they were flogged and thrown into prison.
·         Instead of complaining, Paul and Silas chose to celebrate what the Lord was doing in them even in prison. The songs they sang that night broke chains.
·         Unlike Paul and Silas’ music, this generation is full of songs that don’t bring God the glory. We need to make songs that bring deliverance into the world. It is a decision we make.
·         Music has been thought as entertainment, but music can minister the word of hope to a greater audience. It shouldn’t be thought of only as entertainment.
·         Powerful gospel songs should cause a conviction to arise in the hearts of the listener to change towards God.
·         God has not only freed us to flee and follow but to also go out into the enemy’s territory and grab people out into freedom.
·         What kind of song comes out of me when I am in a hard place or when I am wherever I am going back to? Is that song going to change lives? To song writers: what motivates you when you write a song? God? Money? Fame?
·         What songs are you listening to? Songs are written out of an experience or a thought.
·         BMF struggled without recognition for 10 years. That’s when “I Live for You” became a hit. How? They prayed to God that even after opportunities come, let them remain to live for God. Out of that song, they got five Groove Award nominations and two other awards. They won three out of the five.
·         An urge to musicians: have an audience of one when you write songs. They’ll bring change. David did this and he had songs for every situation. He even was called to use music to chase out demons out of King Saul: this means that music can as well be used to bring demons into people.
Joshua 6:20 (ESV) So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city.
·         The devil did not create music, he took something good that God created and turned it to be used for evil purposes.
·         Song review and strong: “Healer” by Hillsong. The song is a composition based on a true testimony by one Michael who was a porn addict yet he had lied that he had cancer. He later donated all the monies due to song sales to charity.
·         We should hide ourselves in God so that any composition we make will come out to change the world.
·         What song have I been singing along to, because when I sing along to anything, I am agreeing with what it says. Have you entered into partnership with the enemy without knowing?
Prayer: praying for musicians and those addicted to secular music.
He’ll be performing some of their songs later.

SESSION TWO
Topic: HOW TO ANSWER THE CALL OF GOD IN OUR LIVES THROUGH MISSIONS
Anderson > today is his birthday.
·         He believes in the youth because he was called while he was a youth.
·         He told a story of an African youth and as an African. These truths unveil: we tend to love stories and here is the story that changed his life > he used to listen to his grandparents stories about cultural stories that touched his life. Young men and women were considered as the strength of the community. Initiation was though being given spears, javelins etc. and they were commissioned to be protectors or warriors for battle or bring riches to their communities through plunder. He later heard of the story of Jesus as a teenager. He was born Muslim, and Jesus’ story changed him.
·         As Africans, we have what it takes to work for God as young people. We have the greatest force in the Kingdom of God.
·         He is talking to us the redeemed of Christ, called by the Lord, and have strength to change things in the spiritual world.
·         When we do believe in ourselves, we can do so much more for the Kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 9:19 (ESV) For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law.
·         Paul made himself many things for the sake of the Gospel.
·         As a teenager, and while doing missions, they went through the Book of Acts and the Lord spoke to him to be a missionary to the people where Christ is not known. He later realized that Somalis mainly don’t know Jesus. They reiterated that they have never seen a Christian all their lives. Amazingly, he told one that he was a Christian and everyone was amazed. It was uncommon to them.
·         He wasn’t yet married and spent time wondering what kind of wife he’ll marry. He went down to Garissa and simply obeyed. He later received JKUAT students on exposure mission and there he met his wife. He later wedded her in Nairobi but went back to reside in Garissa. They relocated to Ogaden as missionary workers. They’ve, for a period of one year, been soliciting for funds to support missionary work in Ogaden (upper Northern Kenya regions).
·         We are requested not to post their photos all over social media.
·         It is harder to answer the question, “Are you Christian?” amongst devoted Muslims. Prayer is essential in missionary work. Prayer is the weapon in that battlefield.
·         Obey the call of God for your life wherever you may be. Are you ready to willingly obey when called?
·         You can be resourceful to missionary work through giving money to support missionary work, using your time or prayer all for church planting and witnessing the Gospel to the lost.
·         He’ll be available to give direction and counsel to anyone called to missions.
·         They have a budget of 150,000/= per month for their missionary work. Anyone can commit to give 500/= or more every month for a whole year. This will help facilitate their budgetary needs. At least 17 people committed to give towards this.

1.15 pm
Lunch break.

2:10 pm
·         After a short session of praise and worship, Rev. Kihu introduced a representative from CIC Insurance Group, Dr. Zack. He introduces his team.
·         They have been in partnership with K.A.G. for a long time, but this year they aspire to change the system.
·         Here is how they plan to work: changing the future of the nation begins with changing persons. By using the Jijenge Five savings initiative, one can save up to only KShs. 190 per week for a minimum of five years. Those willing to join the initiative can visit the C.I.C. tent set outside the hall where they will be registered by filling in some forms.
·         Parents were also urged to apply for a policy. This is like a future plan for the child or children. It’ll secure the child’s life and financial needs i.e. school fees.
·         Those who may be interested in becoming sales agents for the Group’s products can register. This can act as a form of employment and they may earn up to KShs. 100,000 depending with how well they work.
District Directors from across Kenya
2.30 pm
·         Took a break and went for workshops as listed above.
·         The sessions run smoothly, almost concurrently. The various groups at different places with their counselors. This was awesome as the youth benefit in all areas of life according to their needs.
·         The Pre-marital counseling class however took longer than the scheduled time: some seeds don’t just germinate overnight.

3.00 pm
Group Sessions
Director Kihu sent people into groups which were sent to workshops in the following categories;
1.    Teenagers: this includes all persons under 19 years of age. However if one is of such age and is in college or past form four, he/she is excluded to meet at the tent.
2.    Leaders: All district, sectional and local church leaders to congregate at the Leaders’ Lounge.
3.    Entrepreneurs: Those in businesses or those willing to open their own. They met at the right wing of the hall.
4.    Graduants: The group that graduated less than two years ago.
5.    Ministries: Those who’ll be joining ministry.
6.    Pastors’ Kids: Met outside the ladies’ dorms grounds.
7.    Artists: Met at the immediate right of the hall.
8.    Form Four Leavers: Met at the middle part of the hall.

3.00 pm
At the Leaders’ Workshop
Speaker: Jared Oginga
·         He works with SIM (Serving in Mission).
·         Phone numbers: 0713-258-685 or 0710-204-145.
·         They equip Christians through providing resources for various ministries.
·         Church leaders are serving a very complicated audience: people with intellect who think logically; therefore, we need to continue equipping ourselves in order to lead effectively. Technology has become a major challenge too.
·         A leader should be a reader. If you don’t read, stop leading. We just need 15 minutes per day to read 8 books in a year: it's a sin to have more clothes than books.
·         They've had a program before called "The Pastor's Bookset" which came out to be theologically helpful to pastors.
·         A boring church is the reason why teens and millennials leave church.
·         These books help engage young people in the current issues they're struggling with.
·         If the youth worker does not know the issues the youth are struggling with, serving them becomes harder.
·         This course called “The Youth Workers Toolkit” provides 40 books.
·         Must attend a three day conference first. If you register between now and May 31st, I you only pay 6,000/=. A group of ten registers for 5,500/= per individual. The program is for everyone working with young people, whether young or old.

4.30 pm
Games and leisure time.

6.20 pm
More auditions.

7.30 pm

SESSION THREE
Rev. Daniel Musyoki - Mrima KAG, Kwale County
Topic: "THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT"
·         He's the third person in the God-head
·         He can't be compared to anything living because He is spirit.
·         He is God. He does great things in our lives, knows what we need (prays on our behalf unto the Father)
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (ESV) "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit."
·         Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
·         The Holy Spirit has his own independent attributes: He's eternal, knows all things, all-powerful, omnipresent. These are the same attributes God possesses.

The names of the Holy Spirit:
  • Isaiah 4:4 > the Spirit of judgement
  • Zechariah 12:10, Hebrews 10:29 > Spirit of grace.
  • Isaiah 11:2 > Spirit of Wisdom
  • John 14:16-17 > Spirit of Truth
  • Romans 1:4 > Spirit of holiness
  • Romans 8:2 > Spirit of life
  • Romans 8:15 > Spirit of sonship
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:8 > Spirit of His mouth
  • 2 Corinthians 4:14 > the Spirit of faith
  • 1 Peter 4:14 > Spirit of glory
Symbols of the Holy Spirit:
  • Oil - signifies God's acceptance and/or healing.
*      There is always a fault with buying or requesting to get anointing oil. Note the difference between Saul's and David's anointing and how different the Holy Spirit worked in the lives of both.
*      The Holy Spirit flows freely to the person who has fully given themselves to God's will
  • A dove - signifies peace. Seen at Jesus' baptism.
  • Water
John 7:37-38 (NIV) “On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him."
·         The overflow of the Holy Spirit causes an overflow of good deeds. Acts 2:3
·         There is now a baptism of the Holy Spirit and of fire. Matthew 3:11
Ephesians 5:18 (NIV) "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit."
·         Minus the Holy Spirit, there is no seal of God upon our lives.
Ephesians 4:30 (NIV) "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption."
Revelation 12:7-9 (NIV) 7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down - that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
·         Satan was hurled down from Heaven (Heaven is our inheritance in Christ) and he - the accuser - who lost in heaven now seeks to take over and control the lives of men.
·         It is the Holy Spirit that enables us to overcome the devil.
Luke 23:38-43 (NIV) 38 There was a written notice above him, which read: this is the king of the jews. 39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" 40 But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." 42 Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. " 43 Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
·         There were two thieves at the cross of Calvary, each with differing choices. Which are we?
·         An altar call followed by an awesome prayer session of deliverance that ran for almost an hour ensued.
Worship moments.
